From start to finish, Val & Andrew's wedding day was an exhilarating whirlwind. The day was filled with delightful surprises, and some of the standout moments included Daisy, Val's adorable dog, Brava, her stunning horse, and even a Corvette, adding an extra layer of excitement and charm to the festivities.
The ceremony took place on Val & Andrew's family land, a walk from the main festivities. But this added journey only heightened the sense of anticipation and intimacy. The couple's creativity shone through in the details, with seats made from straw bales, an arch with horseshoe accents, and a tractor transformed into a drinks station – perfectly in tune with the farm theme. It was, without a doubt, the most private and intimate ceremony I have ever had the privilege to attend.
The reception venue, The Metcalfe Fairgrounds, was nothing short of magical. With a "barn" filled with twinkling lights and white walls, it exuded a charming rustic elegance that perfectly complemented Val & Andrew's style. The venue, with a perfectly located hill, offered breathtaking panoramic views; we had to take advantage and do portraits there. This season has been one with unpredictable weather, but Ottawa had a pleasant surprise in store for us this time. The golden hour and sunset painted the sky with vibrant shades of orange that could make someone's jaw drop. It was a moment of sheer beauty and serenity that added an extra layer to an already perfect day.
